Pelikan M400 piston filling fountain pen from the 1980ís. Green striated barrel, gloss black cap with gold filled trim. Screw cap has green Pelikan logo inlaid to top in green. Beak style, gold filled pocket clip. Single gold filled cap band carries the inscription ĎPELIKAN- GERMANYí around circumference. Black, un-banded piston fill screw knob operates piston with elastomer seal.
Pen measures 4.7/8 inches (12.5 cms) long with cap attached. Weight: 14.0 grams.
Nib and Feed
Solid 14ct gold nib with Pelikan logo and ĎPelikan - 14C - 585 - Mí inscribed. ĎMí for medium. Nib is quite firm and a lovely smooth writer. Black resin, horizontal comb ink feeder.
This pen is ĎNew Old Stockí and has never been inked. We have however, fully serviced this pen. Piston mechanism has been removed and lightly lubricated. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from cracks, with no scratches or dents. There are no personalisation's. Gold plating to trim is excellent. Cap to barrel screw is firm and positive. We would classify this pen as being in mint condition. Pen is sold in original packaging complete with papers.
This pen pre-dates the current M400 Souveran, this early 1980ís variant was introduced to replicate the original early 1950ís Pelikan 400 celluloid models.
