Montblanc 22 vintage fountain pen in rarer gloss burgundy resin with gold plated trim and 14K medium wing nib from the Late 1960’s.
Burgundy resin slip on cap fitted with slim gold filled pocket clip. Burgundy resin conical cap top with white Montblanc 'snow-cap' signet inlaid. Gold filled lip band inscribed ‘MONTBLANC - No 22’ with slim secondary gold filled band above.
Burgundy resin barrel and grip section. Blue translucent faceted ink view window with cap clutch grip ring below and gold filled dress ring above. Burgundy resin piston filling knob at rear of barrel which operates piston filling screw and piston. Montblanc ‘snow-cap’ signet to base of barrel.
Pen measures 5.0 inches (12.7 cms) long with cap attached. Weight: 14.5 grams.
Nib and Feed
Original 14ct gold wing nib which is stamped ‘14C - 22 - MONTBLANC - 585’. Nib has a medium (M), cursive ground writing tip, with moderate flex. Very smooth writer. BHR round ink feed.
Restoration and Service
Pen has been fully disassembled prior to ultrasonic cleaning to remove all traces of ink. Piston screw mechanism removed from barrel, seal checked and mechanism lightly lubricated. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from cracks, hairlines and dents. No obvious signs of age related ware or surface scratches. There are no personalisation's. Gold plating to pocket clip and bands is in excellent condition. Ink view window is clear. Cap clutch mechanism is firm and positive, as is the pocket clip. Overall pen is in excellent condition. Supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon card box.
