Restoration and Service
Pen has been fully serviced. Fully dis-assembled to component parts. All parts ultrasonically cleaned. New piston seal fitted, piston mechanism lightly lubricated. Piston seal vacuum checked. Nib tip has been honed to remove previous owners writing bias. Nib and feed assembly re-aligned with screw-in collar, re-sealed into barrel. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap have unnoticeable age related surface scratches, with no cracks, hairline’s, dents, or personalisation. Gold plating to clip and trim is very good. Resin has gloss sheen. Cap to barrel threads positive. Piston operation smooth, drawing full ink volume. Ink view widow is crystal clear. Nib shows no sign of rhodium infill plating loss. We would classify this pen as being in excellent condition. Supplied in Montblanc period black plastic case.
The Montblanc Meisterstuck 149 is Montblanc's flagship fountain pen. Dating this genuine Meisterstuck 149 can not be exact, but due to specification modifications over the years, in particular, the triple tone 18C nib (as opposed to 18K), round BHR ink feeder with no longitudinal grooves, clip ring markings and resin piston operating screw, we are able date this particular pen to between 1969 to 1975 manufacture.
