Piston screw mechanism and seal lightly lubricated and re-sealed into barrel. All old and worn gold chemically removed from clip and cap rings. Polished and re-plated with 12 carat gold. Nib and feed correctly aligned within retaining collar, nib tip honed and assembly re-sealed back into section. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Cap to barrel screw is firm and positive. Barrel clarity is very good. Minimal ware to celluloid coating on section. Milled grooves to piston filling knob are excellent. Cap top stampings are well defined. Piston draws full capacity of ink. We would classify this pen as being in excellent. Pen is supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon card box.
This 80 year old Pelikan 100 fountain pen has had many hours of diligent restoration work carried out on it. We think the effort has been well worthwhile, bringing this rare writing instrument, with original nib back to working order, with an appearance to match. Totally authentic pre-war specification. We have provided a date for this pen to be pre 1937. The nib, feed and cap may date it to as early as 1933, whilst the fully BHR piston mechanism would have continued in production until 1934. Collectible condition.
