Visconti Homo Sapiens Oversize Bronze Age Fountain Pen with 23k palladium DREAMTOUCH™ nib. Pre-owned, originally purchased in 2016. Near mint condition.
Unique to Visconti - a pen crafted using material as antique as the world: lava from mount Etna. Each pen consists of over 50% lava, fused together with modern resins to produce a virtually unbreakable pen. The pen is trimmed with solid bronze fittings. The cap bands and pocket clip are forged from marine quality bronze, this requires no further plating and is simply polished to its naturally beauty and finish. The name of the company VISCONTI is embossed on both sides of the clip on a black enamel background. The words 'HOMO SAPIENS' are cast into the bronze body dress ring. Cap fits to body via Visconti's secure and fast bayonet system. There are a further two bronze rings around middle of cap. The fountain pen filling system is a high vacuum piston filler with titanium piston rod.
Pen measures 5.75 inches (14.6 cms) long with cap attached. Cap measures: 16.5 mm. Barrel measures: 14.3 mm. Weight: 41.5 grams.
Made from 23k palladium (DREAMTOUCH™). Nib is stamped 'VISCONTI - 23k Pd 950 - FIRENZE - M' Nib has good flex and a very smooth medium writing tip.
Pen has been fully serviced by Hepworth Dixon. All parts disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned. Reassembled, write tested and finally flushed with clean de-ionised water.
Pen is in immaculate condition, with no signs of ware or use. The polished bronze fittings have been exposed to air, and have therefore gained a natural aged patina which adds to its appearance. Piston vacuum filling system slides with ease and draws up maximum ink volume. Overall pen is ready to write and is in near mint condition. Pen is supplied in its original presentation case and outer card box. Included within case is a Visconti owners manual and a special bronze polishing cloth (unopened).
The Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age fountain pen has many unique design features, this combined with the use of materials not normally associated with fountain pen manufacture make it a highly desirable writing instrument.
Please note: As mentioned above, this pen has gained its desired aged patina. However, if pen is to be purchased as a gift for someone, Hepworth Dixon would be happy to polish all bronze fittings and reseal in original sealed plastic bag.
