Conway Stewart 76 Vintage Fountain Pen

Rare Conway Stewart 76 lever filling vintage fountain pen in red herringbone patterned resin. Gold filled trim. Made in England c.1958

Screw on/off cap with single wide gold filled cap band with serrated edges. Gold filled pocket clip impressed with Conway Stewart signet, secured with gloss black conical jewel. Gold filled lever filler clip has shield impressed with C.S signet. Barrel impression reads ‘Conway Stewart 76 - MADE IN ENGLAND’.
Nib and Ink Feed 
Original solid gold 14ct Conway Stewart medium tipped nib. Stamped ‘Conway - Stewart - 14 CT GOLD - 5’. Nib is a lovely smooth writer having modest flex. Ebonite flat ink feed.

Conway Stewart 76 Vintage Fountain pen 
Restoration/ Service

Pen has been fully disassembled. Ultrasonically cleaned to remove all traces of old ink. All gold fittings have been stripped of old gold, polished and re electro plated with 14 carat gold. New Latex ink sac fitted. Nib and feeder reset. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished with imprint masked. Reassembled, write tested and finally flushed with clean water.

General Condition

Pen barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no dents, cracks or hairlines. There are no personalisation. Gold plating to pocket clip is very good, as is the cap band and filling lever. Cap to barrel threads firm and positive. Firm pocket clip. Filling lever flush to barrel, firm operation. Barrel imprint crisp. Overall pen is ready to write and is in excellent condition. Pen is supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon padded card box.

Hepworth Comment
This Conway Stewart 76 is a reasonably sized, well proportioned and balanced fountain pen. Hard to find in this rare red herringbone version, in such good condition.
