Parker Duofold Centennial Fountain Pen. Made in England 1991 (3rd Qtr.). Blue marbled cast acrylic with gold filled fittings. 18K two-tone medium nib. This is the Mk.1 version, having a slightly longer pocket clip.
Pen uses a cartridge or piston convertor filling system (convertor included). The cap which unscrews from body has gold filled, high relief clip, raised double cap bands and plain black cap top.
Barrel has gold bands to front of black section, one between barrel and section and a further two raised gold bands to rear of barrel, black end to rear of barrel. Pen carries inscription ‘PARKER - MADE IN UK - '1 N’ to cap, above lip bands. This reference number accurately dates the manufacturer of this pen to the third quarter of 1999. Barrel unscrews from section to access cartridge or piston bottled ink convertor.
Pen measures 5.3/8 inches (13.7 cms) long with cap attached. Cap diameter 15.0 mm. Weight: 30.2 grams (convertor included in weight).
Solid 18ct gold nib with with inlaid ruthenium arrow motif. Nib is stamped ‘PARKER - 18K - 750’. Discrete Parker logo stamped to unseen part of nib. Medium writing tip, lovely smooth writer.
Pen has been fully disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned to remove traces of old ink. Nib and feed removed from collector, reset. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no dents, cracks or hairlines. There are no personalisation. Gold plating to clip and trim is unworn. No evidence of ware to ruthenium inlay on nib. Cap to barrel screw threads are firm and positive. We would classify this pen as being in very excellent condition. Pen is sold with parker hard shell presentation case, operating and warranty booklet.
