Rare Dunhill Limited Edition Sidecar 'Limousette' Fountain Pen. c.2008.
For the connoisseur, the Sidecar 'Limousette' fountain pen is cradled in a distinctive cap crafted from solid sterling silver and complimented with black lacquer stripes to recreate the definitive 'art deco' style of the iconic 1930's Steib sidecar. This pen is one of only eighteen hundred and ninety-three pens ever produced. This number celebrates the year Alfred Dunhill founded his eponymous business, this fountain pen is engraved with it's limited edition number.
Cap: Cap design is taken from the 1930's Steib sidecar, see image bottom right. Full round screw cap, solid sterling silver with black lacquer inlays. Sterling silver pocket clip with ball end. Domed cap top, with sterling silver d within black lacquer inset. The cap top has the individual serial number 0931/1893 engraved.
Barrel and Section: Brass metal barrel coated with black lacquer. Rear of barrel is designed to perfectly accept posted cap, single sterling silver band. Front of barrel has three sterling silver bands, the wider middle band is fully sterling silver hallmarked. Tapering silver plated plated section, having intricate cast 'waved form' grip. Filling is by included piston converter cartridges may also be used, access by un-screwing finger grip section.
Pen measures 5.46 ins (13.8 cms) long with cap attached, 6.3 ins (16.0 cms) with cap rear posted. Cap diameter: 0.54 ins (13.7 mm). Weight: 47 .0 grams with converter fitted.
Solid 18 carat gold nib, platinum plated. Stamped 'Dunhill - 18K - 750'. Writing tip is medium. Exceptionally smooth writer with a hint of flex.
No restoration required, pen is pristine. Pen has been fully dismantled and serviced, all parts checked for operation and authenticity. Nib and feeder correctly aligned. Reassembled, write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from dents and scratches, showing no obvious signs of use. There are no personalisation. Sterling silver components have been delicately polished. Cap to barrel screw threads are smooth and positive. We would classify this pen as being in very excellent condition. It is evident that at some stage the presentation box hinges have been damaged, this damage has been carefully repaired to the highest standard.

The conceptual design idea for the Dunhill sidecar range, was based on the 1930's BMW - Steib luxury sport sidecar.
