Elegantly styled, early S.T. Dupont Classique Laque de Chine fountain pen with 18 caret gold nib. Striking iridescent Chinese lacquer burnt umber body colour with gold filled trim. Manufactured in France during the 1980’s. Authenthic laquer hallmark. Cartridge or piston convertor filling. Pen is supplied in original presentation box with piston convertor and two boxes of cartridges.
Cap: Slim push fit, Chinese lacquered over brass cap. Classic Dupont gold filled clip with body coloured lacquer inlay. Clip is stamped with serial number ‘D1CE99’, underside of clip stamped ‘MADE IN FRANCE’. Gold filled cap band inscribed ‘S.T. Dupont - PARIS - LAQUE DE CHINE .
Barrel and Section: Lacquered over brass slender taper barrel with gold filled end cap. Gold filled lip band, personalised with the name ‘A Luck’. Black ribbed resin section which screws into barrel, accessing cartridge or convertor.
Pen measures 5.1/4 inches (13.4 cms) long with cap attached. Cap diameter: 11.0 mm. Weight: 25.8 grams with convertor fitted.
Solid 18 ct gold nib, stamped ‘18 ct - 750’. Medium writing tip (see macro images of nib for detail). Very smooth wet writer with surprising amount of flex.
No restoration work required. This pre-owned pen has been fully serviced, disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned. Nib and feed correctly aligned and set. Reassembled, carefully polished, write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no dents or dings. Gold plating has no visible signs of ware. Overall we would classify this pen as being in excellent condition. Pen is supplied in original box with piston convertor and two boxes (1 x black and 1 x blue) of cartridges.with two ink cartridges.
Personalisation to barrel band is discrete, professionally engraved in the same font style as used by Dupont. Pen has traceable origins from new.
