When it was developed in 1906, the 'Rouge et Noir' fountain pen was considered an outstanding technical achievement, ensuring simple operation without the need for dipping the nib into an inkwell. The Heritage Collection Rouge et Noir celebrates the 110-year-old pioneering spirit of Montblanc. Reinterpreting the legendary writing instrument, it features a longer, slimmer silhouette and craftsmanship refined over generations, with coral precious resin in barrel and cap. Snake Clip in vintage look with matching fittings. The clip is made by a stamping and winding process in a special alloy metal, and is aged by a unique galvanic and stripping process.

Restoration and Service
No restoration work required, pen looks and feels as if it just left the factory. Piston seal vacuum checked. Nib and feed assembly re-aligned with screw-in collar, re-sealed into barrel. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no cracks, hairline’s, dents, or personalisation. Resin has high gloss sheen, as does the lacquered metal barrel. Cap to barrel threads positive. Piston operation smooth, drawing full ink volume. We would classify this pen as being in near mint condition. Supplied in Montblanc black outer and white suede lined case with stamped and dated (27/12/2018) service/user guide, outer black and red card box, further white card protection sleeve.
This Montblanc Heritage Collection Rouge et Noir Special Edition Fountain Pen in coral is very much a reincarnation of it's 1906 predecessor. Materials have changed, but the overall aesthetic appearance remains the same. The pen, although fairly slim, sits surprisingly well in the hand, and although the cap can not be posted, balance is good due to the weight of the metal barrel. We particularly like the original style Montblanc logo on the side of cap which adds character to this modern variant. Watch out for the eyes of the serpent, they can be totally mesmerising.
