Rare Montblanc 24 Vintage Fountain Pen in gloss green resin with gold plated trim. Made in Germany during the mid 1960's. Screw operated piston filling system.
Green resin clutch grip cap. Fitted with slim gold filled pocket clip, secured by green conical top stud which has white Montblanc signet inlaid. Gold filled cap band inscribed ‘MONTBLANC - 24’ with slim secondary band above.
Green resin barrel and section with translucent blue ink view window. Piston filling knob at rear of barrel, white Montblanc signet inlaid to base of barrel.
Pen measures 5.1/4 inches (13.5 cms) long with cap attached, Cap Posted :5.86 inches (15.0 cms), Cap Diameter: 0.53 inches (13.58 cms), Weight: 15.7 grams.
Nib and Feed
Original 14ct gold wing nib which is stamped ‘14C - 24 - MONTBLANC - 585’. Nib has a fine (F) writing tip, moderate flex and is a very smooth writer. Ebonite ink feeder.
Pen has been fully disassembled prior to ultrasonic cleaning. Piston screw mechanism removed from barrel, seal checked and mechanism lightly lubricated. Nib assembly dismantled, nib polished and writing tip honed, re-aligned prior to resealing into section. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from cracks, hairlines and dents with no obvious signs of age related ware. There has no personalisation. Gold plating to pocket clip and bands is in very good condition. Ink view window is very clear. Cap clutch mechanism is firm and positive. Overall pen is in excellent condition. Supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon card box.
