Screw-on, twelve faceted gloss black cotton resin cap with peaked top. Gold filled pocket clip with gold filled pocket clip. Greek key gold filled cap band with narrow bands above and below. The cap clip grip is stamped 'ITALY'.
Twelve faceted barrel and round grip section in gloss black cotton resin. Single narrow gold filled band to rear of barrel. Piston filling mechanism is operated by turning faceted peaked knob at rear of barrel. The words 'OMAS EXTRA' are engraved horizontally to the centre of barrel.
Pen measures: 5.31 inches (13.5 cms) long with cap attached : 6.5 inches (16.5 cms) with cap posted Cap measures: 0.54 inches (13.75 mm) across widest point of facets. Weight: 16.6 grams, cotton resin being extremely lightweight and durable.
Nib and Feed
Solid 18 carat gold. Nib is stamped 'OMAS - 18K - 750 - F'. Nib has moderate flex and a very smooth fine writing tip. Ebonite (BHR) ink feeder.
Service and Restoration
Pen has been fully serviced. Screw piston mechanism removed and seal lubricated. Nib and feed assembly removed to check nib alignment. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, write tested and finally flushed with clean de-ionised water.
The barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no cracks, hairlines or dents. There are no personalisation. Gold plating is excellent with no signs of age related ware. Barrel and cap have a high gloss sheen. Piston filling system slides with ease and draws up maximum ink volume. Cap to barrel screw is firm and positive. Overall pen is ready to write and is in excellent condition. Unfortunately, pen comes without original box and papers. Pen is supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon black card box with extended warranty paperwork.
The Omas Milord is virtually identical to the Omas Paragon design of the period, the Milord is 5.0 mm shorter than the Paragon, they are often confused. This model is the piston filling version, far more sort after than the twin cartridge filling variant. Other than it's unique and elegant looks, the Milord is also a very light weight writing instrument, weighing in at 16.6 grams, in comparison to the Montblanc 146 which weighs 29.2 grams.
