The Graf von Faber-Castell Classic Fountain Pen is one of the toughest pens on the planet, a truly made to last pen for generations. One hold of the pen and the user knows they have something truly special in the hand, made with every tiny attention to detail. It's the Faber Castell's flagship fountain pen baring the traditional family name of the Counts of Castell. Since its founding in 1761 Faber Castell was mainly pencil manufacturing company, they have acquired the famous fountain pen company Osmia in 1930s. Since then, many fountain pens made by Faber Castell carried the name Faber Castell Osmia for a long time. Not until several decades ago, the name Osmia was phased out and replaced with the full family name Graf von Faber Castell which is only for their top of the line fountain pens.
A truly gorgeous pen made by probably the oldest pen company in the world. Offered here is a truly unique masterpiece by Faber Castell, the first edition Classic Graf von Faber-Castell made in the mid 2000s. This pen model is still offered today, however in its second reiteration it features a less comfortable grip section. These first edition Classic's feature a more natural and warmer in the hand resin grip section rather than the current solid metal grip section. For one this material is more friendly to the hand, and due to its barleycorn guilloche texture makes the grip easier more natural and does not perspire the fingers becoming slippery and tire the hand.
The pen is a true masterpiece, envied by many European pen manufacturers. Each pen is made with over one hundred stages, most of which are by hand. The pen is enormous when posted, rarely seen 180mm long, and due to its weight it simply glides on the paper. The nib is amazing, 18K soft nib, fine size and it has a surprisingly decent flexibility to it, unlike most modern stiffer nibs. Conveniently it uses standard international cartridges or converter, so the user is not locked into a particular brand of ink cartridges. The pen comes with its original converter as well as its original presentation box and instructions. The pen features a spring mounted clip which can extend. The thick platinum plate simply shines, it is difficult to capture in photos, and we recommend the use of a microfiber jewelers cloth no and then to occasionally gently rub the pen to a complete shine and luster. The pen is in pristine near mint condition, with minimal to no signs of use, perfectly preserved. No scratches, dings, platinum ware or any cosmetic or functional issues, a true masterpiece pen, but also a wonderful writing instrument to be enjoyed every day!
