Sheaffer PFM (Pen for Men) Mk III with Snorkel Filling System Introduced in 1959, made of resin in burgundy colour with gold inlaid nib. Made in USA.
Pen has the Sheaffer patented snorkel filling system, vacuum plunge down operated. Unscrewing the knob at rear of barrel initially extends snorkel dip tube, the vacuum pump is then pulled back. Immersion of snorkel in ink bottle and by 'Plunging' pump down, ink is drawn into pen, as the ink sac returns from vacuum compressed state to non-compressed state. Re-screwing knob retracts snorkel tube. Pen has gold plated cap clip with characteristic white dot inlaid into clip. Wide gold plated tapered centre band. 14ct gold nib stamped 'SHEAFFER’S - 14 K - USA'. Ball ended nib tip writes with a medium line, being fairly firm but very smooth.
