Restoration and Service
Pen has been fully restored and serviced. Pen disassembled down to component parts and ultrasonically cleaned. New piston seal fitted, piston mechanism lightly lubricated. Piston seal vacuum checked. Nib and feed assembly re-aligned with screw-in collar, re-sealed into barrel. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen and barrel are free from cracks, hairlines, dents and noticeable scratches. No personalisation. Gold plating has been replaced and shows no sign of wear or pitting. Piston operates smoothly and draws up full barrel of ink. We would classify this pen as being in excellent condition. Supplied in Bespoke Hepworth Dixon Card Box.
Sort after Pelikan 400 in rarer tortoiseshell and brown. This is an early version of the Pelikan 400 having a black piston seal, the black seal changed to a clear seal in 1953.
