Pelikan 140 vintage fountain pen. Green striated barrel and black screw cap with gold filled trim. 14 C gold nib. Differential piston filling. Germany c.1957.
Black screw on cap has distinctive gold filled beak style pocket clip. Black domed cap top with green filled Pelikan (2 chick) signet engraved. Single gold filled cap lip band is inscribed 'PELIKAN - GERMANY' around circumference.
Green striated barrel and black section. Lower part of barrel is translucent and acts as an ink view window. Black piston fill screw knob to rear of barrel operates spiral screw differential piston filling mechanism. Piston has elastomer seal.
Nib and Feed
Solid 14ct gold nib stamped 'Pelikan - 14C - 585' (encircled) with Pelikan two chick signet in centre, below which is the letter 'M' inscribed. Writing tip medium width. Nib has moderate flex, and is a very smooth writer. Black hard rubber Ink feed, with four longitudinal lamellas.

Pen has been fully disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned. Piston mechanism has been removed and seal replaced, seal and piston lightly lubricated before replacement. Piston vacuum checked for good seal. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Nib and feed assembly re-sealed into section. Write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from cracks and hairlines. There are no visible dents or scratches. No personalisation. Exceptionally clear barrel. Gold plating to pocket clip and cap lip band shows no sign of ware. Engraving to cap lip ring is excellent. Piston screw mechanism is smooth and draws full barrel of ink. Cap to barrel threads are firm and positive. We would classify this pen as being in excellent condition. Pen is supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon card box
Classic green striated Pelikan 140, showing very little signs of use over the past 60 years. The kugel (Ball ended) nib is very much an all rounder, accommodating most styles of writing. The box, like the pen is in excellent condition.
