Restoration and Service
Pen has been fully serviced. Totally dis-assembled to component parts. All parts ultrasonically cleaned. New piston seal fitted, piston mechanism lightly lubricated. Piston seal vacuum checked. Nib and feed assembly re-aligned with screw-in collar, re-sealed into barrel. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Reassembled, dip write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap are free from scratches, with no cracks, hairline’s, dents, or personalisation. Gold plating to clip and trim is excellent. Resin has high gloss sheen. Cap to barrel threads positive. Piston operation smooth, drawing full ink volume. Ink view widow is crystal clear. We would classify this pen as being in excellent condition.
This Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 in black resin, is the forerunner to the current Le Grande model. Due to specification modifications over the years, in particular, the single piece barrel, mono-tone 14K nib, round split BHR ink feed, clip ring markings, resin piston operating screw and pale blue ink viewing window, we are able to date this particular pen to 1975/77,
