Nib and Feed
Original post war gold nib stamped 'Pelikan' - 585 - 14 KARAT - KM. Nib and hard rubber three vein feed are encapsulated within a hard rubber screw-in collar. Writing tip is (M) medium. Nib has good flex and writes very smoothly.
Pen has been fully disassembled down to component parts and ultrasonically cleaned to remove traces of old ink. Piston screw mechanism and seal lightly lubricated, new elastomer piston seal fitted before re-sealing assembly back into barrel. Clip and cap band stripped of old gold and re-electroplated. Nib and feed correctly aligned within retaining collar, tip honed and assembly re-sealed back into section. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Write tested and finally flushed with clean water.
Pen barrel and cap have no cracks, hairlines or dents. Surface scratches are absolutely minimal. There are no personalisation. Gold plating to clip, and cap band show no brassing, the cap band shows minimal signs of age related ware to serrations. Cap to barrel screw threads are minimally loose (age related), but are totally functional. Green 'Pelikan Patent' markings around cap top are clearly visible, as too is the Pelikan logo on top of cap. Barrel ink view clarity is very good. Section and threads black celluloid coating remains intact. Piston draws full capacity of ink. We would classify this pen as being in very good to excellent condition. Pen is supplied in bespoke Hepworth Dixon card box.
This 65 plus year old Pelikan 100 N fountain pen with it's rarer fluted clip and serrated cap band is an absolute beauty. Totally original with it's gold nib, the only restoration work needed was a new piston seal and re-gold plating pocket clip and cap band.
